Why This Matters

Your Kinetico system uses activated carbon or Chloraban™ media to remove chlorine before it reaches your softener resin and your taps.

That media is self-sacrificing. It absorbs contaminants until it is full, and then it stops. The system keeps running, the water keeps flowing, and nothing looks wrong from the outside.

How Long Does the Media Last?

Five to six years in most GTA homes, depending on your municipality's chlorine levels and your household's water use.

Once the carbon is exhausted, chlorine begins reaching your softener resin. Three things follow:

Chlorine reaches your taps again, and taste and odour return gradually enough that most people adjust before they notice.
Rubber seals, valves and faucet components wear faster, because chlorine is hard on them.
Softener resin degrades. Carbon replacement is not covered by warranty, but chlorine damage caused by not replacing it can void the warranty on your resin.

If your system includes a carbon tank, Chloraban or Sulfaban media, or a dechlorinator module, it is subject to carbon exhaustion and should be inspected.

What Happens When You Book

1. You book online or call. We confirm the model on file before we quote.
2. A Kinetico technician comes to your home. The re-bed takes about [X] hours.
3. We replace the carbon media, test your water before and after, and show you the difference.
4. You pay $999, or $62.72 a month if you finance.

Why Do I Need This?

Carbon is consumed as it works. Once exhausted it stops removing chlorine, and the chlorine you installed the system to remove starts reaching your resin and your taps.

How Do I Know If My Carbon Is Depleted?

If your system is five or more years old, assume it is due. Changes in taste, smell or water softness confirm it. Send us your address and we will check the install date on file and tell you either way, including if you do not need it yet.

Can I Wait?

You can. The risk is that chlorine damage to your softener resin costs more to repair than the re-bed costs to prevent, and that repair is not covered once the damage is caused by lack of maintenance.

Is This Covered Under Warranty?

No. The carbon re-bed is routine maintenance, like changing filters. Skipping it can void the warranty on your softener resin.

Can I Finance It?

Yes. $62.72 a month for 18 months at no interest, on approved credit through Financeit.
